Security Department
The Security Department plans, coordinates and implements methods to provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff and facilities.
The Security Department
- Assists other departments and school administrators in the planning and design of security for existing facilities and new construction.
- Works closely with law enforcement to maintain an effective presence of School Resource Officers (SROs) and other officers on school campuses.
Programs
School Resource Officer Program provides Durham Public Schools with full-time law enforcement officers for each high school and middle school. This program is designed to help promote close working relationships between law enforcement, students and faculty of the schools and to decrease criminal offenses committed against persons and property in the schools.
