Community Education supports student achievement by providing enrichment opportunities for students, and opportunities for citizens, agencies, and institutions to become active partners in meeting educational and community needs.

The following programs are administered by this department: Before and After School Care in elementary schools, Encore Middle School Program, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, SAT Preparation Courses, DPS Volunteer Services, Donations and Facility Rental Services.

On this page you will find information about programs offered and forms needed to access programs.

Looking for information on Intersession and Before and After School care?

Community Education provides before and after school care at all elementary sites in Durham Public Schools. All school age care sites meet the certification standards of the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and operate under the accreditation guidelines established by the National Afterschool Association (NAA).

We now have a website devoted entirely to our Before and After School Care Programs
