BIO:
Omega Curtis Parker, a Durham native, retired from Durham Public Schools as media coordinator at Little River Elementary School, where she served for 39 years. After retirement, she was a substitute teacher in the school system. She is a member of St. Mark A. M. E. Zion Church. In addition to her professional organizations, she holds membership in social, civic and public service organizations. These include Charms, Inc., Durham Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Durham Chapter of Charms, Progressive Sertoma Club International, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and Tau Gamma Delta Sorority, Inc.
Omega is a graduate of Hillside High School and received the Bachelor of Arts and the Master of Science in Library Science degrees from North Carolina Central University. She is married to J. Quinton Parker. They are the parents of two adult children, a son and a daughter who are both graduates of Jordan High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They have four grandchildren, one of whom currently attends Rogers-Herr Year-Round Middle School.
