BIO:
Heidi is currently a graduate student in Maternal and Child Health at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and is interested in the link between health and school performance. Along with her ongoing focus to improve academic outcomes for all students, Heidi is committed to developing policies and programs that promote the health and well-being of our youth. Heidi serves on several community committees including the Durham County Board of Health, Durham At-Risk Youth Collaborative, the Youth Council of the Workforce Development Board, and the DPS School Health Advisory Council.
Heidi graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master’s degree in medicinal chemistry. She and her husband, Scott have four children, Jamie(23), Dusty(21), Haley(18), and Dylan(16). Their children attended Southwest Elementary School, Shepard Magnet Middle School, Durham School of the Arts, Githens Middle School, and Jordan High School.
