BIO:
Fredrick Amos Davis has served as Pastor to First Calvary Baptist Church since June 1991. Under his tenure the membership has more than doubled. Pastor Davis also currently serves as a Christian Education Consultant for Urban Ministries of Chicago, Illinois, and is the National Alumni President and a Board member for the Morehouse School of Religion, Interdenominational Theological Center. Additionally, he serves as the Chaplain for the National Alumni Association for Johnson C. Smith University. Fredrick grew up in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) in philosophy and religion. He graduated with honors with a master’s of divinity degree in philosophy from Morehouse College School of Religion and did graduate work in the area of counseling at the Tuskegee Veterans Administration Medical Center Department of Clinical Education (1982-1983).
He most recently completed a year’s seminar at Duke University dealing with more in-depth racial issues. Pastor Davis has received numerous awards including the highest national award for civic service from the James E. Shepard Sertoma Club. He also was named a Johnson C. Smith Alumnus of the Year. Pastor Davis is married to Judith Hayes Davis, and they have three sons: Fredrick Amos, II, Jordan Emmanuel and John Daniel.
