About RSS

There are currently many RSS Feeds on DPS -- several of these feeds are news items from DPS as a district. These feeds include the Board of Education Minutes, Press Releases and News among many others. We also have a feed for each school within our district.

An RSS feed provides a simple structured list of links that can be harvested by news aggregators or news reader programmes. Users can then follow updates to any number of different web sites without having to visit them individually. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or RDF Site Summary, depending upon the version in question. DPS uses version 1.0 where RSS means RDF (Resource Description Framework) Site Summary. RDF is a recommendation of the W3C.

There are a number of ways to access RSS feeds. The most common method is to install an aggregator that displays RSS feeds from web sites selected by the user. Many RSS aggregators are available to download and install for free or at little or no cost from various sources on the Internet.

RSS Readers

For your convenience we have included some links to RSS agggregators by platform below:

Setting up an RSS feed differs from one news aggregator programme to another but it usually involves copying the URL of the feed from the web page and pasting it into the aggregator. The URL for an RSS feed from this web site is located by right-clicking the orange RSS button next to the ‘How to use RSS Feeds’ link. Then choose ‘Copy shortcut’ or ‘Copy link address/location’ and paste this into the news aggregator.
